Animal Rights Letter Nights
June 4, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
On Sunday, June 4th, at 6PM, WTF will reintroduce a regular series of animal rights letter writing nights in Toronto that will support vegan prisoners and other causes or letter writing campaigns. This event will focus on presenting the process of writing letters to prisoners, including important do’s and don’ts, as well as some information about the prisoners we can write to.
We will be letter writing at this event as well for those coming to Toronto from other cities for National Animal Rights Day. (https://www.facebook.com/events/592624299047845)
Right now there are people caged in federal prisons for their efforts to liberate animals, defend ecosystems and sabotage life-destroying infrastructure. Anyone taking a stand for a better world and being incarcerated deserves the care and love of the people outside. It might not bring them freedom, but showing solidarity fills prisoners with love and hope. The average animal rights prisoner has very little in common with the general prison population, so having a connection to people who share a similar value system can be very important to people who are isolated, bored and frustrated by the lack of meaningful exchange in their environment.
Sunday, June 11th will be the International Day of Solidarity to support Marius Mason & All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners. You can find more information at www.June11.org
*Please note that the elevator will not be operated for this event. Let us know if you have any access requirements, and we will aim to accommodate you at future events.
For this event all you need to bring is yourself, and maybe a few friends. Letter-writing and mailing materials will all be provided. Articles formatted as internet print-offs (provided they’re not stapled) can also be mailed into prisons.
Thank you for supporting animal rights prisoners!
